Blackrock

After BlackRock, the world’s largest asset management firm, acquired Barclays Global Investments, the company decided to relocate its staff to Drapers Gardens a new 300,000 sqft development.

KKS and KPF Architects were retained to assist with the workplace strategy and interior architectural fit-out of the new HQ. KKS analysed BlackRock’s existing space qualitative information was gathered in workshops, through interviews with department heads and office tours. A design direction was produced, with desired numeric and spatial requirements for client, staff and amenity areas. KKS then developed workplace standards and settings from the strategic headcount, area projection and optimal adjacency analysis.

Following delivery of the Strategic Brief, KKS led the concept design phase. Blocking and stacking options were analysed to establish if they satisfied BlackRock’s requirements either with no compromise, minimal compromise, or base build modifications. Universal planning concept and test-fit options were also delivered.

KKS services extended beyond concept design to development of the furniture design intent, and assisting with tenders.
