BW: Workplace Experts

BW: Workplace Experts, fit out and refurbishment specialists, required new premises to meet their long-term business requirements and they appointed KKS to work with them at every stage of their relocation. Initially KKS interviewed key individuals to understand the organisation’s philosophy, culture and needs and, from this, strategically reviewed the shortlist of buildings that BW had identified. Test fit plans were undertaken for each building to determine their suitability.

BW wanted to create a high-impact and efficient interior to support their future growth and vision. The KKS concept proposed an internal envelope of bronze screens in the reception, combined with lacquer panels, creating a stunning backdrop to the arrival experience. The daylight, filtering through the screens, creates the ambience typically experienced in a first-class hotel.

The reception focal point is a striking reception desk, bespoke Corian, which curves towards the waiting area of iconic loose furniture. The detail and quality of the design is evident and met the project aspiration of providing visitors, guests and employees with a superior working environment and embodiment of BW’s brand expression.

The sophisticated, neutral palette was utilised to create a classic aesthetic and ensure longevity of design. The BW brand, critical to the organisation, is subtly reinforced throughout and, in reception, is provided by a stunning light feature, carved out of the ceiling and projected on to the wall leading to the suite of eight client meeting rooms. The agile workspace, populated with bench-style desking, accommodates 130 employees over 86 desks providing BW with the potential to increase their headcount by 30% in the future.
