To set a new benchmark of quality for Azerbaijani commercial office space and bring UK standards to the development, Savills Workplace & Design were engaged as interior architect on the landlord areas of both towers and podium, and to undertake common area signage. In a context with less stringent building standards this required close attention to quality, detail and delivery.
Port Baku Tower 2 was conceived as a sculptural completion of the wider Port Baku development. The new mixed-use tower is an evolution of the original Port Baku Tower 1 design, completed in 2011, forming a “bookend” to the eastern aspect of Port Baku and creating a sense of enclosure in the central zone of the development.
The tower’s angled base is mirrored in the podium to the west, which provides restaurants and shops to create a vibrant circuit, drawing people from the popular Fashion Avenue to the west. The tower also boasts sculptural, curving façades and inclined upper levels, with a 16-meter-high angled foyer space at its base, creating an impressive entrance.
One of the aims of the project was to set a new quality benchmark for Azerbaijani commercial office space. The interior design concept is inspired by the wind of Baku, which is a defining characteristic of the “windy city”. It creates a space that reflects the movement, energy, and fluidity of wind, and the interior design uses a combination of materials, textures, and colours to create an atmosphere that represents its effects on Baku.
The tower was delivered using Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology to deliver a fully coordinated design across multiple disciplines, and a professional team located in London, Dubai, Istanbul, Madrid, and Baku worked on the project.
The completion of Port Baku Tower 2 enhances the skyline of Baku and provide a world-class development for the city’s commercial sector.
Savills Workplace & Design, Chapman Taylor and Pasha Construction have had a long and successful relationship starting in 2009. Approaching completion, Savills Workplace & Design has created a stunning and modern interior design setting the benchmark for office developments in Baku.
